Numerical Analysis of a Micro Gas Turbine Combustor Fed by Liquid Fuels

Abstract

In this work a CFD analysis of the combustion chamber of a 50 kWel nominal power micro gas turbine is presented. The purpose of the analysis is the investigation of the combustion process and performances of the combustion chamber fed by liquid fuels, through three-dimensional numerical simulations performed with ANSYS CFX 13.0. Firstly, a sensitivity analysis has been carried out in order to determine the parameters for the correct modeling of the liquid injection. Then a simulation campaign has been conducted to investigate the cases of Jet A feeding and the supply with different liquid fuels deriving from biomass.
